I've run 140/90 tyires all the time on my bike, I've shorter shocks so that I have to adjust them when riding 2 up, otherwise the tiyre will rubb on the inside of the rear fender (nothing spectacular). the 140/90 looks better and provides you with a longer final ratio (ok, only a tiny little bit longer) which in my opinion is really necessary for the savage (I run a almost 20% longer final ratio!)
Note: neither tyire nor tiyre is the correct spelling anywhere!
